These were pleasant enough wines, but they were not as focussed and slightly dull. The Takatu in particular, lacked acidity.
Takatu Score: 87/--
Man 'o War Score: 89/-
This is it from me on New Zealand wines for a while (thank God I hear you say).

Just back from NZ. Tasted a few Pinot Gris, including the Man o’ War which I thought a bit wishy washy. Had the Ned 2009 from Marlborough which at $19 NZ I thought pretty good value until I tried the Huntaway Estate 2008 from Gisborne, stunning @ $20 NZ. A beautiful wine displaying lovely fruit and a slightly unctuous character. The Huntaway Reserve Gewurztraminer 2007 is also worth a try, a great example of this variety from an exceptionally good vintage there.
