Our Christmas drinking was fairly measured, but of good quality. For the red wines, I opted for lighter options, given the warm weather. The 17 year old Burgundy was in good condition, fresh and energetic. I had two bottles of the 2012 Elio Grasso Barolo. They showed considerable bottle variation. One was quite developed. Overall, a satisfying selection of wines.
What did you drink for Christmas? What stood out?

Had a '19 Savaterre Chardonnay alongside a '17 wild duck Alan's cabernet. Former was very charming albeit less complex than the '17 vintage.
Alan's feels like a rebel in abv terms at only 14.1%. That said it's still indulgent and will look better with more time.
Another recent highlight was the Giaconda nantua Roussanne '21. Loads of breadth and flavour but also savoury notes (I think from amphora maturation?). Tried at De Vine in Sydney, lovely spot. MMAD (new shaw & Smith project also worth keeping an eye on)
Ahh Savaterre! I have not drunk the Chardonnay for some time; I always enjoyed it. I need to get back to it. MMAD is also on my radar.
It looks like you had a great selection of wines. Thank you for sharing.
Probably the quietest christmas in a long long time as i was visiting family and everyone was a teetotaller.
Splurged on a Krug NV, Billecart Salmon Rose and a non-alcoholic Maggie Bear "Chardonnay".
