Somebody pointed out to me, correctly, that I have used Bindi's Pinot names in the current Chardonnay poll. I sincerely apologize for that. Their premium Chardonnay is the Bindi Quartz Chardonnay. This is what I should have said. Unfortunately I cannot change anything once the poll is open.
So please, when you think of Bindi, think of the Quartz. And please vote.

If there's an idiosyncratic yet truly Australian category of fine Australian wine I've always thought to be quite open in terms of 'most popular', it must be sparkling red.
Personally I think there's a genuine 5 contenders (from 4 different regions at least ;) whose wines all represent something completely different in style. I'd love to see what people think is Australia's best sparkling red.
It's a totally Australian category and I'd love to know what your opinions are Alontin, as well as your readers ;)

I would like to take you up on this. A poll that cannot be done elsewhere in the world! However, I am not the most avid sparkling red drinker myself. I am aware of the Barossa E&E Sparkling Shiraz, the Seppelt, and the Rockford Black Shiraz. Which wines would you put in?
You've nailed 3 of the 5 I had in mind Alontin, the other 2 being Joseph's NV and the Ed Carr made Leasingham Classic Clare Sparkling Shiraz.
You're probably not alone in being a fine wine drinker who isn't an avid sparkling red fan, but when done correctly I love the style! I know I'd have a hard time picking a favourite from that list!
Cheers,
